Hidden Gems

Where does the time go?  I guess on Facebook.  So anyway, sometimes I walk.  At lunch, near my office, in an undisclosed location on the ‘Westside’ of Los Angeles, is this Wall Mural:

"The pursuit of truth and beauty is a
sphere of activity in which we are permitted
to remain children all our lives." - Albert Einstein
I did a Google Image Search for it and, surprisingly, no match. The wall where this mural is painted is on a street that gets almost no traffic.  Unless you work on this street, are lost, homeless, or me, you will likely never see this work.  A shame.

You’re welcome.

After 25 Years or so...Knott's Berry Farm!

Great time.  plus ça change...
For those not on Facebook, you can catch a three minute video here. (seems fb links not working - more later) Okay, posted here also.  Seems FB does not like to share videos.  Photos, yes.

Not as well kept as some Parks, but adds to the charm?

By the way, do you golf?  Better yet, do your children golf?  If they do, then why are they not attending this annual event???

I mean, really - best Junior Golf event in North America!  Okay, so I may be biased, since I know the organizer.   Granted, he needs to update/improve his web presence. But not only a great Golf Instructor, also a great guy!

World Masters:

Hit 'em long and straight.

Cheers.

Upper Newport Bay

Having a heat wave in March, when we actually need some rain.  No point in crying over lost rain, just enjoy the beautiful views of our surrounding's.
So we went for a walk today!

Plus this little gem of a scene along the wetlands

OTBN

It has been awhile, and this might be a little late for most, but tomorrow, the last Saturday of February, is Open That Bottle Night.
Here is the origin, but sadly the couple have long since been fired by the Wall Street Journal.  All the more reason to keep their terrific idea going.
Enjoy...

And here is a piece from the originator, from this year:

They call him Flipper…

After a long slog of a commute to work, and then having to take the long way around LAX, I was treated to a show of Dolphins jumping through the bay at Dockweiler State Beach.

Now I’d rather go surfing (and I don’t even surf).

Snooze button bliss…

Here I was, all set to remind the world of a most overlooked, and possibly the greatest, side benefit of digital clocks – the snooze button!

http://yfnjman.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/snooze_button.jpg

This morning the lovely wife™ hit it twice and I was grateful. In my effort to help the world recognize and honor this humble button, I came across stories like this. Bah, scientist’s!

Not sure if the science is settled, but I still love the little button. My ‘hats off’ to the engineer who developed it and insisted on adding it to the digital clock radio.

New Computers

It is such a time consuming process setting up a new PC.  If only I had all the free time in the world – note to self: buy lotto ticket today…

Kleenex Cold Care

When you get a cold, these softies are the best.  Too bad KC decided to stop making them.  Thanks to my Bro-in-Law, I got an extra stash.  Not many left, however :(
Kleenex
Nothing like invigorating menthol-eucalyptus!

Mini-Vaca, con't.

So far, so good; early check in, nice room, great view, 9 holes of golf with even better views.
Catalina from the 4th tee.  Big water carry, might have to lay up.
Going to be a nice couple of days. Cheers.

Public Employee Perks in California

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/dmv-189719-police-confidential.html

This is the kind of reporting that just might bring readers back to newspapers. My old paper, the OC Register, did a nice job here.  Look forward to more like this.  Wishing the new owner luck.

Los Angeles City Walk

For those of you not on Facebook, here is a link to a few photo’s from our recent sojourn into the heart of LA.  (ed: Does LA have a heart? Me: Not sure, but it does have a beat.)

Wyoming + Escalators

Not sure what to make of this.  I don’t know if it is a good thing, a bad thing, or no thing; perhaps it just is.

Somehow, it just seems askew.  Just like that word.

Unrelated, but funny:
Huh! Turns out some at Google have a sense of humor.

Monkey Style

Okay, so since I only have one RSS follower, this is for them.  Next time we do lunch, this is what it will be:

So until then, best to exercise…

Oh, and an order of Animal Fries, too.  And a Pink Lemonade.

Purple Haze

I am not able to photograph the spectacular sunset I am viewing from my patio here in beautiful Lake Forest, Ca., but it is amazing.  I am sure someone captured it and I will look for a photo to add to this post.

The layers of colours seen in the haze were like ribbons in a sewing store (ed note: do they still have sewing stores? – yes Michaels and Joanne’s).  I have not seen so many shades of orange and purple since my wasted youth…

Hope you got to see something similar.
